This book is loaded with action, suspense and drama at page 1 and never lets up. The reader is taken into the mind and soul of all the main characters - the young boy who is kidnapped after he recieves a heart transplant, his frantic mother who will do anything to find him and bring him back, the rogue ex-Marine who assists the mother and also to answer demons from his past, the embassy "official" who is the mastermind of the crime, the drug lord funding the operation and his wife, whose son provided the heart used in the transplant.The action is intense, the stories into the minds and souls of the characters are both touching and analyzed, and it never lets up. If there is anything critical to mention, in my opinion, the emotions between the mother and ex-Marine seem to change so fast. Especially hers - seems like she went from hating him to loving him in 2.3 seconds! But even that is minor, and it happens in stories that are not as complete and well written as this one. Thank you, Ms. Minger for publishing such a great story.

I would recommend this story to anyone. It is one fantastic read. I could not put the book down, the story line was heart wrenching and any Mother reading this book would be engrossed as to what happens. The author did a fabulous job in the writing and in bringing the story line together.
A great page-turner. If you have to take a long flight this would be the ideal book to take with you. It's the first book I've read of this author and I loved it. I will be reading more for sure. The situations were well created and evolved naturally in the environment of the plot. I recommend this book for the adventure loversand there is a bit of romance too.
This was a book that kept me interested and guessing right up to the end. I enjoyed the action and the love story as it developed. It is sometimes brutal and bloody but the story kept me reading for hours. I truly enjoyed this book!
This is a fast-paced suspense--so fast-paced that it's hard to believe so much action could take place in just a few days. Some of the supposed good guys turn out to wear black hats; some of the villains are evil to the core, but some that would be expected to be pure evil turn out to have a heart of gold--or at least a soft gold spot in an evil heart. I would have found the ending more satisfying had Jake and Clare resolved the situation rather than the resolution coming from an unexpected source.
I don't know what the reviewers who gave this one less than glowing critiques were looking at. This book has it all -- romance, adventure, suspense, excitement. There are twists that set it apart from all the other stories out there, like the heart transplant for the little boy. Clare is a likable heroine who draws your sympathies from the start, and Jake is the perfect "tortured hero" who will also make you love him. I whole-heartedly recommend this book, and my kudos to the author.
The story here is really unusual. Suffice it to say that a woman and a man, who has complicated motivations, go to Mexico to rescue the woman's six year old son, who has been kidnapped by a drug lord and his mad wife. With many twists and turns, some of which seem somewhat obvious, the book is a fast and enjoyable read. The romance between the protagonists feels a bit rushed, but it is a romantic thriller. While there is explicit sexual language, such as an episode of phone sex, actual sex scenes are absent. I found myself staying up way too late thinking I would read just one chapter more. The last third of the book is a surprising and addictive rollercoaster ride. I recommend this book for those who like thrillers with a bit of romance.
This book was called Ripped Apart when I bought it, now it's called Operation Hero?!?! Makes it really hard to give reviews when authors switch the title on us.
That being said, it is a good story, faced paced, and for the most part likable characters and I enjoyed it.
Took one star away because there were some parts that for me were too predictable which takes away from the story and I caught some places that were obviously missed by an editor.
